If you ever watched The Newsroom, one thing you'll hear about in the show is that a news source shouldn't ever try to be "unbiased". They should instead simply report on what happened. Sometimes, there is no justifiable second position, and giving such unjustified positions significant column space is a mistake and fallacy. Just because a group or person has A perspective on something doesn't mean that such a perspective merits a report, or even part of one.
Coming back to what I want to talk about, a while ago, I promoted a site called Verity News that was a free alternative to Ground News, thinking proudly that I'd found a great source. Unfortunately though... After watching a somewhat enlightening video by Literate Machine, I realize the problem with Verity/Ground News is the very premise and I really should have thought about that. That news should report equally on left and right wing perspectives always. Now, the video is quick to lambast right-wing sources, and it is pretty topical to do so since that is the party in power at the moment and the video is already an hour long, but nevertheless, whether deliberately or accidentally, he overlooks the corruption and gaffs of the left-wing.
His point about Ground News though is still valid and logical in my opinion despite the above. He gives alternatives to Ground News as well which are all worker cooperatives. They are:
404 Media
Defector
Aftermath
Range Media
Hell Gate
Flaming Hydra
I don't personally know about the trustworthiness of any of these, but I'll list them here for reference regardless and let you guys decide.
